A Balancing Act
Thanks Tressy and Shelley for your comments. I think every working mom knows what it feels like to try to accomplish your daily tasks (forget the entire "To do" list). We all get some feeling of guilt when we are dedicating a lot of time to any one part of our life no matter how worthwhile. Every teacher wants to be completely ready and waiting for their students to arrive at school, but it is usually difficult to have everything organized for them due to time constraints. Luckily, things eventually settle down into place most of the time.

I am going to take that as a "don't sweat the small stuff" statement.
I just hope I can learn which things are the small stuff and which are the important ones. Now, knowing the kids names had better not be an important one or I am in real trouble;-)
Anita, you are correct that most of the time that things will work out in the end.
Tressy, not to worry after a week or two you will get every students name and still call them by the wrong name too.
Anita the last two years I have had about 3 weeks of lesson planning ready to roll in addition to having my room decorated with that year's theme. This year my things have been moved into my new room as of yesterday but I haven't touched it. I only have a smattering of things prepared not even a week's worth. I am so white knucking it...like you I like to be in the moment and ready for those smiling faces.
