A Balancing Act

Thanks Tressy and Shelley for your comments. I think every working mom knows what it feels like to try to accomplish your daily tasks (forget the entire "To do" list). We all get some feeling of guilt when we are dedicating a lot of time to any one part of our life no matter how worthwhile. Every teacher wants to be completely ready and waiting for their students to arrive at school, but it is usually difficult to have everything organized for them due to time constraints. Luckily, things eventually settle down into place most of the time.

Back to school anxiety

I think even if I had taught school for a hundred years, I would still suffer from this back-to -school anxiety. Every year, it feels like there is no way to do everything I need to do before the students come back. Every year, summer goes by a little faster. I'm just now starting to get used to being out of school for the summer. Oh well, I'm going to try to think of it as a new beginning.

Computer Hardware

First of all, I have to say how much I appreciate my group partners for their knowledge of computers and their patience with me, a novice to computers. When I first read Chapter 4 in our textbook, I thought there was no way I could ever learn all of that, but after Saturday I realized that I had learned a lot. It really helped to see the components set up, and to go over them firsthand. Thank you to my partners and Prof. McGranahan.

School Lirary Websites

I've been looking at school library websites, and I was really surprised that most school libraries don't have one. I only found a few that are student friendly- like I had imagined a good school library site would be. I have gotten some ideas about what I would like to do for a school library site. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas.

Webliography for web design

I've been looking for sites to include in our webliography for web design, and I've found several that have a lot of information on web design; but I'm still just not sure that I understand enough about the information to write about it. Thank you all for you positive comments. I'm going to keep trying.

Blogging & Web page

I have not taken the post-test yet because, I knew that I had not learned enough for it to make any sense to me. Today, I'm going to work a little more on HTML by reading over some things that I've printed off the Internet. I will probably need some help with creating a web page. Until then, I'll keep trying to understand HTML.

Blogging

I've been reading about blogs this week while doing research for our class. I am beginning to understand the appeal that blogs have for young people with something they want to express. People with common interests can build a sense of community online and respond to each other in a nonthreatening way. I'm glad to have such an encouraging community with our common interest of learning more about library technology.
